Ukraine, Russia, United States Confirms Further Trilateral Peace Talks

Following peace talks in the United Arab Emirates, Ukraine, Russia and the United States confirmed that they will hold more talks. The talks were described as “constructive” and “successful.” The meeting took place January 23-24, 2026.

Dmitry Peshkov, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman, said that further talks are scheduled for next week. “I can’t give you the exact date right now, though,” he added. Steve Witkoff, the United States negotiator, said: “Plans were made to continue conversations next week in Abu Dhabi.” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was less certain of the timeframe but said future talks could happen as early as next week as long as Russia and the United States agreed.

Witkoff said the talks were “constructive.” Zelenskyy praised the talks and said, “There would have to be American monitoring and control over the process of ending the war and maintaining real security.” He did say, however, that he was not ready to surrender territory for peace: “I will repeat it; everyone knows our position. We are fighting for our country, for what is ours. We are not fighting on the territory of another country, so what question could there be for us? Yes, these are two fundamentally different positions-the Ukrainian and the Russian. The Americans are trying to find a compromise.”

Both Ukraine and Russia said the other side was trying to delay the peace process. Russia said Zelenskyy’s delay in accepting territorial concessions was delaying the peace process, while Ukraine said Russia’s repeated strikes even as the talks were proceeding prevented the process.
