Dogs that are Good for Cat Lovers

Cats and dogs are generally regarded as opposites in terms of personality. Cats are considered more independent, while dogs are believed to be more social. Certain dogs, however, have definite cat-like traits and may be a good fit for cat lovers to have in their homes.

Dogs considered cat-like in their personalities include:

Basenji-The Basenji is more independent than most other dogs and grooms itself much like a cat. They communicate with yodel-like sounds rather than with loud barking. They love to play and cuddle with their owners, but do not seek out constant attention in the way some other dogs might.

Cavelier King Charles Spaniel-Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are friendly and enjoy time with their owners but aren’t overly demanding. Their quiet nature and small size make them ideal companions for cat lovers.

Greyhounds-These dogs are surprisingly calm, when one considers their reputation as racing dogs. They are calm dogs who prefer short walks outside followed by long periods of rest. They rarely bark or make excessive noise and have graceful cat-like movements.

Take time and care when introducing a new dog to your cat. Give each pet a safe space when needed and allow them to slowly adjust to one another’s company. For cat lovers, finding a dog with cat-like traits can provide both a loving companion and a calm presence in the household.
