Bucharest, Romania: Flavio Cobolli Wins First Title at Bucharest Open

Flavio Cobolli of Italy won his first ever title at the Tiriac Open in Bucharest, Romania, defeating Argentina’s Sebastian Baez in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. It was an incredible turnaround for Cobolli, as he had lost eight consecutive matches before his triumph in Bucharest. He became the first Italian player to win in the Romanian capital.

Cobolli said of his victory, “I feel great. I feel happy. It’s a big dream come true for my career. I always dreamed of winning an ATP tournament and it has happened today. I had not won a match before this tournament, and I won the tournament. So I’m really happy about it.”

He credited his opponent, Sebastian Baez: “To play against Seb on the clay is always tough. He is one of the best players on clay right now. He already won many titles on it, so it’s a great fight and a great day for me.”

Marrakech, Morocco: Luciano Darderi Wins Marrakech Title

Luciano Darderi of Italy defeated Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands in two tiebreak sets, 7-6, 7-6 to win the Hassan Grand Prix II title in Marrakech, Morocco. It was Darderi’s second career title on clay, having also won in Cordoba, Argentina in 2024. Griekspoor had arrived in Marrakech as the top seed, but it was seventh-seeded Darderi who scored an upset victory. 

Darderi said of his win, “The last moment was really difficult for me, but I fight every day for this moment. Tallon is an amazing player, you never know what’s going to happen-7-6, 7-6 is really tough.

Bogota, Colombia: Camila Osorio Wins Third Career Title in Bogota

Hometown favorite Camila Osorio, 23, won her third title in Bogota, Colombia, defeating Poland’s Katarzyna Kawa 6-3, 6-3. It was her third title in Bogota, having also won the tournament in 2021 and 2024. Her opponent, 32-year-old Katarzyna Kawa, made it through qualifying to reach the final. She will move up 67 spots to number 156 in the world. Osorio managed to save five break points to win the opening set, then easily won the second set.

Charleston: Jessica Pegula Wins Charleston Title

Jessica Pegula defeated her fellow American Sofia Kenin 6-3, 7-5 to take the Charleston title. Kenin had been up 5-1 in the second set and it appeared that the match would go into a deciding third set. However, Kenin’s game began to unravel, allowing Pegula to break three times and hold her own serve to win her second title in 2025. She won the Austin title earlier this year.

Houston: Jenson Brooksby Wins First Career Title

American qualifier Jenson Brooksby defeated his compatriot Frances Tiafoe in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, to claim his first career title. Brooksby had to save match points in three of his matches to reach the semifinals, where he defeated fellow American Tommy Paul. In the final, Brooksby scored a decisive win over Frances Tiafoe.

Brooksby had reached a career high of 33 in the world in 2022, but a thirteen-month doping suspension kept him out of action until March, 2024. He will return to the top 200 following his win in Houston. Brooksby said, “Thank you to my team. All the way from qualifying, match point down. That’s pretty intense, so thanks for sticking with it, every match, every day, here for me.”
