Americans Divided on Success of Trump-Zelenskyy Meeting

Written by Edda Bevilacqua

Americans are divided on the success of the meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Forty-six percent of voters said neither the United States nor Ukraine emerged victorious, while 35 percent said the U.S. won and 15 percent said Ukraine won. Four percent said both countries were equally successful.

The opinions about the meeting’s success were divided along party lines, with 57 percent of Democrats saying neither side won, 25 percent stating Ukraine was the winner and 16 percent siding with the U.S. Among Republicans, 60 percent sided with the U.S., while 31 percent said neither side won and seven percent said Ukraine won. Among Independents, 51 percent said neither side won, 28 percent sided with the U.S. and fifteen percent said Ukraine won.

The meeting was tense, with U.S. President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance calling Zelenskyy “disrespectful.” Zelenskyy posted on X that “We need real peace,” and called for security guarantees, stating: “It is very important that we try to make our diplomacy really substantive to end this war the soonest possible.”

Trump took to Truth Social, calling Zelenskyy’s remark, “the worst statement that could have been made by Zelenskyy and America will not put up with it much longer!”
