Written by Dana Wall-Oakley

A successful business needs strong leaders.  Read on for tips on how to develop strong business leaders.

How do you define leadership?  What makes a leader a “strong’ leader?  Now that you have worked hard to make your business successful, you want to develop strong business leaders to help you keep it successful.  If you ask 10 different people how they define leadership, you will get 10 different answers.  So, how do YOU define leadership?  One great explanation is: “Leadership is the ability to empower and bring out the best in others to serve the great good”.  To develop a strong business leader for your organization, consider the following tips.

  1. Strong Leader Traits:  What makes a leader strong?  Some traits that define a strong leader include Being Decisive, Disciplined, Passionate, Loyal, Focused, Humble, Servant Minded, and Influential.  These qualities, among many more, are the very definition of leadership.  Are these traits that can be learned or improved?  Absolutely!  An individual can become more focused, influential, or any of the other leadership traits with practice and discipline.  How determined are they to become a strong leader?  Do a self-assessment, of yourself and your employees and work on improving those leadership traits that need to be developed.
  2. Strong Leader Habits:  Decide and commit to the change to be a stronger leader.  As already mentioned, practice and discipline to develop good leadership habits will help you in improving your leadership traits.  Strong habits include Making effective goals, Being on time, Being efficient and consistent, and Building a great company culture.  These habits can also be improved along with your leadership traits.   Developing strong leadership habits will help launch you and your team to success.
  3. Strong Leader Skills:  Improving those habits requires strong leadership skills.  These include having good – Time Management Skills, Listening Skills, Communication Skills, People Skills, Delegating Skills, Motivating Skills, and Flexibility, among others.  Adapting yourself and your team to different situations will perfect those skills needed to develop you and your team into strong leaders.

A strong leader doesn’t simply tell his or her team what to do, or “micromanage” how tasks are completed.  A strong leader will empower the team to accomplish those tasks in the most effective and efficient way possible.  If you and your team develop strong leadership traits, habits, and skills, you will continue to have a successful business.  If you need help figuring out how to develop strong business leaders for your business, reach out to Classy Communications today.  We can help.  Contact us at www.ClassyCommunications.net.  And please follow us on LinkedIn at ClassyCommunications PR & Advertising.
