Zelenskyy Reveals Condition that Would End War with Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy suggested that a ceasefire with Russia could happen if NATO membership were granted to unoccupied parts of Ukraine. Zelenskyy stated that he would agree to this deal and work towards regaining Ukrainian territory “in a diplomatic way.” Zelenskyy said:

“The invitation must be given to Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders. If we want to stop the hot phase of the war, we need to take under the NATO umbrella the territory of Ukraine that we have under our control-and then Ukraine can get back the other part of its territory diplomatically.”

Additionally, Zelenskyy said he will work with United States President-elect Donald Trump to have, in his words, “the biggest supporter.” Donald Trump said, if elected, he would end the war in Ukraine in one day. This sparked fears in Ukraine that the war would end only on terms favorable to Moscow.
