Measuring employee performance is crucial for ensuring your team is productive, efficient, and aligned with your organization’s goals.  Read on for a few tips on How to Measure Employee Performance.

You believe the employees you’ve hired to help your small business will be productive and skilled, but how can you monitor that they meet your expectations?   Providing constructive feedback that gives them context about how well they are succeeding and where to go next will be critical for their success, which leads to success for your business.  When employees know their objectives, they will be more successful.  Is it measurable?  Yes, it is.  Here are a few tips on how to measure employee performance.

  1. OKRs, KPIs and 360s –  What are these?  OKR means Objectives and Key Results.  When employees have an objective towards which to work, they have a greater ability to achieve specific measurable outcomes.  These are the Key Results.  You can measure employees’ performance by tracking whether or not they obtain their OKRs.  This leads to KPIs which are Key Performance Indicators.  These include productivity, work quality, and customer satisfaction.  To assist you in assessing feedback on your employees’ performance you can utilize 360s.  A 360 evaluation is feedback from supervisors as well as peers and subordinates.  This will give you more than one perspective on which to assess and measure your employees’ performance.
  2. Tracking and Checklists – Keeping track is a way of measuring employee performance, but how can you track?  There are many ways to monitor your employees’ performance.  Using tracking software, such as Asana or Trello,  can help you track task completion, deadlines and overall productivity.  Checklists for specific tasks can help you track the same.  Is the employee completing their tasks on time in the most efficient way possible?  A checklist for the task can tell you.  When employees know exactly what they are supposed to be doing they are more productive, efficient and effective.
  3. Benefits of Measuring Performance – There are many benefits to measuring employee performance, such as increased engagement, clear communication and expectations, building trust, increased productivity and employee satisfaction.  When you measure their performance, you know how well your employees are accomplishing their tasks or if they need help.

By defining, measuring, and monitoring your employee’s performance, as a small business owner, you can ensure your employees align with the company’s goals, improve productivity and efficiency, and drive business growth.  Set clearly defined objectives, provide regular feedback and use tracking software and checklists to confirm your employees are accomplishing their tasks.  If you need help figuring out how to Measure your employee’s performance, reach out to Classy Communications, we can help.  Contact us at www.ClassyCommunications.net.  Please follow us on LinkedIn at Classy Communications PR & Advertising.
