Pommel Horse Specialist Stephen Nedoroscik Helps United States to Team Bronze Medal

American gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik, a pommel horse specialist, helped the United States men’s gymnastics team to its first medal in sixteen years. He secured the bronze medal for the United States following his routine on pommel horse, the final routine of the men’s team competition. Nedoroscik, known for wearing glasses, is referred to as the “Clark Kent of Pommel Horse.”

Nedoroscik, 25, a mechanical engineering graduate of Penn State University, competed for the University’s gymnastics team between 2017-2020 and became a two-time National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) champion. Nedoroscik competed alongside his teammates Paul Juda, Asher Hong, Frederick Richard and Brody Malone to earn the bronze medal behind Japan and China. Nedoroscik earned an additional bronze medal in the individual pommel horse final on Saturday, August 3.

United States Women’s Gymnastics Team Wins Gold Medal

The United States women’s gymnastics team, consisting of Simone Biles, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, Sunisa Lee and Hezly Rivera, won the gold medal. It was their first gold medal since 2016. Jordan Chiles and Jade Carey set the stage for Simone Biles in the vault. Sunisa Lee and Simone Biles also performed well on the balance beam and uneven bars. Finally, Jordan Chiles and Simone Biles concluded with the floor exercise portion of the competition to seal the gold medal for the United States team.

Italy won the silver medal and Brazil, led by Rebeca Andrade, won the bronze.
