Be Supportive: When you maintain a positive attitude in all your communications with others, it shows that you value your colleagues and clients.  If a colleague needs assistance, ask how you can help.  Use helpful expressions, like “I would be more than happy to . . .” and “How may I be of service?”.  Exhibit a willingness to support, as well as empathy and patience.  When you contribute to a supportive, positive work environment, you will foster effective teamwork, and build stronger relationships.

  1. Be Self-Aware: Understand your strengths and areas for improvement.  Knowing your work habits and how they affect your performance can help you in professional interactions.  You can be much more helpful to someone else when you know and cultivate excellence in your own skills.  Improving skills such as communication, leadership, teamwork, and emotional intelligence are critical in building positive workplace relationships.
