Coco Gauff to Become Youngest U.S. Flagbearer at Olympic Games

American tennis player Coco Gauff will be the female flagbearer for the United States team, joining basketball legend LeBron James, the men’s flagbearer. Coco Gauff, at 20 years of age, has made history as the youngest flagbearer for the United States and as the first tennis player to be selected for this honor. 

Coco Gauff said of this honor: “I never thought in a million years I would have the honor of carrying the American flag for Team U.S.A. in the Opening Ceremony. I could not be more proud to lead my teammates with LeBron as we showcase our dedication and passion on the biggest stage there is-at a moment where we can bring athletes and fans together from around the world.”

Coco Gauff will be joined on the United States tennis team by Jessica Pegula, Danielle Collins, Emma Navarro and Desiree Krawczyk on the women’s side. The United States men’s tennis team is made up of Taylor Fritz, Tommy Paul, Christopher Eubanks, Marcos Giron, Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram. Gauff is the second seed in singles and the top seed in doubles with teammate Jesica Pegula.
