Eastbourne: Taylor Fritz Wins Eastbourne for Third Time; Daria Kasatkina Wins Women’s Championship

American Taylor Fritz won the men’s championship at Eastbourne to become the first player to win the tournament three times, adding to his victories in 2019 and 2022. He defeated Australia’s Max Purcell 6-4, 6-3 and enters Wimbledon as the number one ranked American, overtaking Tommy Paul. Fritz enters Wimbledon as the thirteenth seed and will take on Australia’s Chris O’Connell in the first round.

Daria Kasatkina of Russia defeated Canada’s Leylah Fernandez to take the women’s title at Eastbourne 6-3, 6-4. Kasatkina won her first title of 2024 and her first since 2022. She broke a run of five losses in finals. She enters Wimbledon as the fourteenth seed and will take on China’s Zhang Shuai in the first round. 

Bad Homburg, Germany: Diana Shnaider of Russia Wins Title Over Donna Vekic of Croatia

Diana Shnaider of Russia defeated Donna Vekic of Croatia 6-3, 2-6, 6-3. At 20 years of age, Shnaider becomes the youngest player on the tour to win more than one title. Shnaider won the title on Vekic’s serve, winning match point on her first opportunity. She will rise to number thirty in the rankings.

Mallorca: Alejandro Tabilo Becomes First Chilean Player to Win Grass Court Title

Alejandro Tabilo defeated Austria’s Sebastian Ofner 6-3, 6-4 at Mallorca to become the first Chilean man to win a grass court title. With his win, he rises to number nineteen in the rankings, joining his compatriot, Nicolas Jarry, in the Top 20. This marks the first time in nineteen years that Chile has two players in the Top 20. Tabilo will play against Great Britain’s Daniel Evans in the first round at Wimbledon.
