Simone Biles Wins U.S. Classic Gymnastics Competition

Simone Biles won the U.S. Classic Gymnastics Competition in Connecticut on May 18, 2024 and is likely to make the United States team in Paris. She earned the highest scores of the competition in both the vault and floor exercises, two points ahead of her nearest competitor, Shilese Jones. Jordan Chiles took bronze at the event.

From there, Biles, along with Shilese Jones, Jordan Chiles, Suni Lee and Jade Carey, will move on to the U.S. Nationals in Fort Worth, Texas from May 30 to June 2. The U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Trials begin June 27, one month before the Olympic Games.

Biles said of her return to competition: “I was just happy to be back out there, get through those nerves again, feel that adrenaline. I can’t really complain how the first meet back was.” Biles is likely to qualify for the U.S, team, but it is not yet known who her teammates will be.
