Zelenskyy Comments on Macron’s “Olympic Truce”

Written by Edda Bevilacqua

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he does not agree with French President Emmanuel Macron’s idea of an “Olympic Truce” for the duration of the Paris, 2024 Games because Russia will not keep its promises. When Zelenskyy was asked what he thought of Macron’s idea of a truce, he said, “I don’t believe this will work with Russia. Not this format of truce in general, or any format of truce with Russia. Emmanuel knows this and has witnessed it himself.” He said that the Russians would only use the cease fire to regroup in order to launch a new attack.

“No truce, no Olympics and no authority exists for Putin,” Zelenskyy said.
